Farewell: A tribute to those who made the paper

Posted by Magdaléna Budínová

This is the last issue of Utropia in the spring semester 2012. It is both happy and the sad time for the editorial staff.  Happy because we are looking forward to have short holidays, sad because we have created a great group of fantastic volunteers who are unfortunately going back to their home countries or for some reason leaving Tromsø. Utropia readers may not even realize how important volunteers are for the paper. Without their creativity, enthusiasm and willingness to do something difficult for free, no paper would be distributed. It is, therefore, a super important task for the editorial staff to make our volunteers feel good with us. We hope that free-of-charge dinners, a cabin trip, julebord, free cinema in Verdensteatret , free concerts, operas, exhibitions etc. were a sufficient payback for our volunteers’ efforts. Last but not least, I hope that we helped those who want to follow the journalistic and photographic path in future, since you all can add experience from Utropia to your CV.

I have met some natural-born journalists and talented photographers while working in the paper, and I want to wish them good luck in their lives.  By the way, pay special attention to the Fun page in this issue. We hope that it will help you not to forget that working with Utropia was FUN!

Sincerely yours,

News editor
