On a High Note

This was some crazy year! Full of challenges, deadlines, lots of learning, but also fun and bonding. I started off with only (was it three?) volunteers and had to write half of the section myself. There were some concerts where I was both the photographer and the journalist!

With time, more and more people joined and I like to believe that the reason is the amazing atmosphere that we tried to create. Utropia would NOT exist without the volunteers and this year I got the chance to cooperate with some of the most interesting, intelligent and critical people I’ve ever met.

At the beginning of our term, Utropia was not really popular. People wouldn’t really care that much. I had to call places and institutions to ask if I could cover an event. Now it is us who are getting the calls, even one place asking for Utropia stand. Smugtitt, the Utropia event, where we offered a free movie to all the students we had a full house!

I really hope that I managed to create something new. I tried to pursue a bit more independent culture. Not because I believe that it’s better, but because it’s there and it deserves to be covered. I really tried to find a balance between critical viewpoint and entertainment.
