Teater kinopris, Thursdays with cheaper alcohol, prisundersøkelse. This Utropia issue is interwoven with an economical thread. It made me think about how the international students feel here economically. As a Non-Norwegian student, the first thing that occurs to you after your arrival to Norway is: “High prices = different student life style.” Specially with Erasmus scholarship, at least how I remember it from xxxx years ago, you soon realize that the best life conditions Norway offers, will cost you an enormous amount of money. It also made me think – are the activities of the international students in Norway being a reflection of their poor scholarships? Surprisingly, I realized the answer is no. At least not anymore. Many, many years ago, when I was an international student, we went out drinking twice a month maximum and traveled to Sommarøy at most. The international students I meet now, however, seem to go pretty often to Lofoten, Svalbard, couchsurfe in Australia and they share a lot of drunk stories. The question is: Did I miss something? How high scholarship do people get these days? But in any case, thank you, European Commission, that you give people this enriching opportunity to enjoy Norway for a semester or two – for free.
